One precinct. One vision. Shared responsibility.
After months of laying the foundations, Linbro Park is moving from planning into action.
Engineers, developers, landscapers, businesses, community members and local entrepreneurs are beginning to come together around infrastructure, security, public spaces and local enterprise.
We have registered the Linbro Park Management District NPC, begun establishing the necessary administrative and financial systems, and received encouraging support from the majority of the developers, businesses and property owners approached.
The foundations are in place. The relationships are growing—and everyone in Linbro Park can now help turn our shared vision into visible change.

Connecting Linbro Park
Linbro Park cannot operate as an island. Improving our roads, infrastructure, public spaces and environment requires the precinct to be properly connected to the City structures, organisations and people responsible for them.
An essential part of establishing the Management District has therefore been plugging Linbro Park into this wider network.
We are now engaging with the City of Johannesburg’s Partnerships Committee and CRUM.
The Partnerships Committee connects the City with external partners and creates opportunities for collaboration around projects, resources and potential funding. CRUM brings together the municipal departments and entities responsible for roads, water, electricity, waste management, parks, environmental health and public safety.
Linbro Park has now been formally introduced to CRUM and added to its precinct programme. This gives us clearer channels through which to report operational concerns, direct them to the right departments and follow up on progress.
We are also connecting with the Gauteng Precinct Management Association and learning from precincts that have already travelled this road.
We recognise that the City is working under extremely difficult circumstances and that progress may not always happen as quickly as we would like. Our role is to engage constructively, report accurately, follow up persistently and find practical opportunities to work together.
Learning: Turning knowledge into action
We are now moving into the invoicing stage. Developers, businesses and property owners will receive a separate email this week explaining the precinct contribution, invoicing arrangements and the work the funding will support.
This funding will allow us to begin turning plans into practical improvements, including:
- Engaging engineers to assess and plan our infrastructure requirements.
- Beginning work in priority landscaping areas.
- Installing Linbro Park precinct signage.
- Extending security coverage towards the precinct boundaries.
- Continuing to clean and improve shared public spaces.
We are also drawing on the considerable expertise, enthusiasm and resources already present within Linbro Park.
🏗️ Building Linbro
The Developers Sub-committee has been finalised and will meet shortly to identify and prioritise infrastructure needs.
The group will help us engage the right specialists, develop credible project scopes and preliminary costs, and assist with preparing the proposed IDC funding application.
🌿 Growing Linbro
Andy (CND), Thomas and Lesley (Aquazania) and Sello (Roth Plantscapers) form the core of our landscaping and beautification group.
The team has selected its first priority verge and is now preparing the required wayleave application to obtain City approval before work begins. This pilot project will provide a practical model for creating further visible pockets of excellence throughout Linbro Park.
🤝 Supporting local enterprise
We have also begun working with a small team of young entrepreneurial thinkers to understand the informal food traders operating in the area.
Our first step is to listen and learn. From there, we can explore how traders, businesses, property owners and the City could work together to create a cleaner, safer and more dignified trading environment—with better sanitation, pedestrian safety and attractive trading spaces.
These initiatives may be different, but they share one principle: Bring the right people together, learn from one another and turn local knowledge into practical action.

Take the Linbro Verge Challenge
Visible improvement does not have to wait for a major infrastructure project. It can begin today—outside every gate.
We are asking every resident, business, developer, property owner and organisation to take responsibility for the area directly outside their premises.
Clear the litter. Cut back the overgrowth. Remove old posters. Keep your entrance and verge neat. Dispose of garden refuse and building rubble responsibly.
We also want to thank those who already maintain attractive verges and entrances. Your efforts make a genuine difference and show what can be achieved.
🌿 The Best Verge Competition
To bring some fun and friendly competition into the clean-up, Andy from CND will sponsor a prize for the best verge in Linbro Park.
The winning verge does not need the biggest budget or the most elaborate design. We will be looking for:
- Creativity.
- Neatness.
- Environmental sensitivity.
- Evidence of ongoing care.
Today is a good day to get started!!
Choose your verge. Begin improving it. Share your progress with us.
Your first contribution starts outside your own gate.
Clean it. Cut it. Plant it. Take pride in it.

What teamwork can achieve
The transformation of Ameshoff Street in Braamfontein provides an uplifting example of what becomes possible when a precinct works together.
Through collaboration between the Braamfontein Improvement District, Liberty Group, Joburg Theatre and the Consolidated Urban Management Corporation, sections of the street were transformed with lighting, seating, landscaping and public art.
The project reminds us that one organisation does not need to do everything. When different stakeholders contribute their particular knowledge, resources and enthusiasm, individual efforts become part of a much larger transformation.

Linbro Park is at the beginning of its own journey, but the principle is the same:
Connect the right people. Learn from one another.
Turn shared responsibility into visible action.

Stay connected
